Why Business and Life Coaching?

When I started my first business, I didn’t realize it at the time but I had a coach and mentor that worked with me to create what I wanted – in my business and personal life. He asked me all sorts of questions that opened different avenues of thought for me.

Recently I have been reintroduced to the coaching practice, but on a more structured level. I started a weight release program with a coach in May of 2007. In 9 short months I was able to release about 40 lbs. We all know how to lose weight but the question is then – why don’t we?

I truly believe that having a coach; whether it be for personal growth or business – creates that witness that we choose to be accountable to. This person cannot be our husband or wife, close friend or relative because from my experience the accountability factor is not as important then.

At one point last year I had 3 different coaches for 3 different aspects of my life. One coach for my weight loss, a different one for my business and yet another one for my personal life! Of course they all overlapped as there is no clear line between business and personal life. I was also being trained by one of the most amazing coaches in North America, Barb Robison of LifeCamp Inc.

Now that I am a coach I get to experience a whole different realm to the coaching model. I get to be that witness for my clients, I get to ask the questions that open different avenues of thought, creating amazing new realizations and experiences for my clients in their work and personal lives.

One of my favorite things about being a coach is when I hear a client say after a long pause: “I never thought of this that way before, wow, that changes a lot of my thoughts!” That statement, when coming from a client typically spurs little changes in their perceptions that create a ripple effect into the lives of their spouses, kids, friends, family and work associates. And I get to be their witness and celebrate those successes with them!

My Morning Pages

Every morning I give myself a gift. That gift is a half an hour of writing time. This time is mine. My kids and husband have learned that when mom is writing before 7am in her favorite chair, with the candles going - you give her: her space!

This is the time in my day that I treat as an amazing gift to me, from me. This writing habit has become a space for me to manifest anything that I desire in my life. It's one thing to tell the Universe what I want, but it is a whole nother' thing to put it on paper. It's like creating a witness for my desires.

Sometimes there is just garbled words that come out of my pen. Those are the days that I seek clarity on something. Usually by the third page I am writing about how awesome my life is and clarity is again mine.

Some mornings I end up with a full page of complaining! Once that is out I accept all of the negatives in my life and bless them so as to release that negative energy inside of me to create space for new awesome energy.

When I go back and read over my morning pages I am amazed at how my life plays out from those pages. Lots of times by writing down what I really want, I come to the conclusion that it's not what I really want and something new and even more important comes in for me! From this I create an awareness, and in turn create amazing experiences in my life.

A key factor to the success of my Morning Pages is confidentiality. I have communicated to my family that in order for me to write freely, I must know that only I will see these pages. So I feel confident leaving my binder beside my writing chair, knowing that only my eyes will see what is hidden in the pages. With that security - creativity soars.
